CGMS on loan to me
Is dying because of the short lifespan of the transmitter. Of course I had just ordered sensors for the thing, but am STILL waiting on insurance to say yes or no. It'll most likely be no, but I digress.... All I know is if I have to go into debt to get a new transmitter, I shall. I need this and it has saved me from no less than 4 lows at work in the last month.
Insurance companies need to take a long view: Instead of the yearly bottom line, it is imperative they THINK AHEAD, or the complications of diabetes and hypo unawareness will cost even more, and when the insurance ppl retire, there won't be anything left for them either.
No too sure about other states, but I'm pretty sure 1-2 EMS visits to treat a hypo or ER visits to treat DKA would cost more than a transmitter! It is time to THINK this oer VERY carefully.

Need figures if possible...
Just a thought... Insurance has to pay when one is treated for hypos by EMS. Right? Also true if one has to go to ER for DKA. Although I'm in Southern CA, I'd like some figures as to what these would actually cost to insurance companies.
If anyone knows of a good source to find these figures out, please let me know?
Many thanks... Jenny Sutherland So. Cal http://web.mac.com/wyldceltic1
